Secure the yarn tail
No matter what cast on method you use, it's important to secure the yarn tail when casting on so the first few stitches knit correctly.

You have to remember to remove this as you knit
Some cast on combs don't have clips and this can be fiddly.
It's easily removed as you knit.
This method can be used any time you have a yarn tail (knitting stripes).
