Mastering the Silver Reed SK840

Tools and Accessories

Learn About the Machine · Lesson 4 of 12

Before you start to set up your machine, identify the tools and accessories that came with your machine.

If you don't have the tools marked "essential" you'll be able to get started knitting, but ask Mr. Google to help you find them.
When looking for tools and fun accessories, keep in mind that this is a Singer/Silver/Studio 4.5mm (standard) machine.

Essential:
  • Table Clamps
  • Needle Pusher
  • Latch Tool
  • Transfer Tools
  • Claw weights
  • Oil (sewing machine oil works great)
Consider Locating:
  • Carriage lock - good for securing the carriage when packing it
  • Ravel Cord - "must have" for certain techniques
  • Extra needles - Nice to have on hand - you won't break needles often, but ...
  • Cast on comb(s) Some knitters ALWAYS use a cast on comb for even weight across their knitting. Silver Reed doesn't supply cast on combs with this machine, but they are available in the marketplace.

NOTE: The N-1 Cams (Needle 1) are NOT used with DesignaKnit
